With more than 125 years of institutional history and deep knowledge of heavy construction, the GCA supports member firms with critical information, representation, advocacy, training, and the opportunity to gather, learn and share from peers.
- Industry-specific information: GCA provides members with essential, members-only information on current bidding opportunities, wage rates, union agreements, arbitration decisions, work rules and holiday schedules.
- Collective Bargaining: GCA negotiates collective bargaining agreements for our members with partner unions. We represent our members at grievance hearings and arbitration, and offer guidance and advocacy on labor law changes.
- Advocacy and Representation: GCA brings its strong voice to bear on the industry’s priority issues. Our staff meets with elected officials to promote smart investment in infrastructure at the local, state, and national levels. We offer testimony related to contracts, infrastructure investment and work rules; support effective changes in bidding and contracting processes; and collaborate with other organizations, trade associations and coalitions to advance the heavy construction industry.
- Training and Guidance: Members of the GCA have access to essential training and guidance on safe work practices and other industry matters, and consistently perform their work with fewer incidents than any other segment of the construction market.
- Events: Building New York’s infrastructure is a collective effort. We honor and recognize this with networking events, outings, and industry-specific meetings.
